April is already here, which can mean only one thing…April Fools’ Day!
Residents from Laurelbrooke Landing Personal Care and McKinley Health Center came together to celebrate the holiday with cake, ice cream, and music. The story of April Fools’ Day, when the switch from the Julian Calendar to the current Gregorian Calendar has some mistakenly continue to celebrate the new year on April 1, making them the butt of jokes that continues to this day.
One of the jokes pulled on these “fools” was having paper fish placed on their backs and being referred to as “poisson d’avril” (April fish), said to symbolize a young, easily caught fish and a gullible person. With that in mind, we hid paper fish across the facility, with a prize going to whoever found the most. Doris Casterwiler, of McKinley, found the most and took home a stuffed Easter Bunny!
