Respite Care: The importance of taking time for caregivers
Being a caregiver can be rewarding but also be a time-consuming responsibility. At time caregivers can feel drained emotionally and physically. Respite care gives caregivers a much-needed break in order to recharge and restore balance in their lives.
What is respite care?
Respite care is a temporary break to relieve caregivers of their daily responsibilities. Caregivers can use this time to do things they enjoy, like going for walks, fishing, reading a book, or catch up with friends. Caregivers can benefit from a few hours per week to an extended period of respite care.
WRC Senior Services offers respite care programs throughout our facilities. Respite care involves short-term or temporary care of the sick or disabled. These programs are designed to provide relief to the regular caregivers.
If you take care of a family member and would like to take time for yourself, WRC Senior Services is here to help you through our respite stay.
