McKinley Health Center Director of Nursing Receives Certification

McKinley Health Center Director of Nursing Kelly Fye recently became a Certified Nursing Director of Long Term Care.

Fye is WRC Senior Services’ first CNDLTC and was required to attend a week-long training session in Harrisburg then pass a final exam to obtain her certification.

The training session provided education on federal and state health regulations, staff and financial management, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health survey process.

With this advanced knowledge, Fye will be able to introduce McKinley Health Center’s nursing staff to new tools and procedures designed to provide residents with the highest quality care.

As Director of Nursing, Fye oversees the entire nursing department and staff, ensuring that residents receive proper medical care and coordinating their care with physicians and other departments within the community. She also plays a role in the resident admission process.

As a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Directors of Nursing Administration, Fye will receive firsthand updates on regulatory changes across the state.

“I hope to improve the quality of life for our residents while staying up-to-date on the best practices and regulations throughout the healthcare industry,” said Fye. “And this will enable me lead the nursing department through the constant changes in healthcare while providing exception quality of care.”

Fye has been with McKinley Health Center for the past two and a half years, previously serving each as McKinley’s Discharge Educator, RN Supervisor and Assistant Director of Nursing.

“I am very eager to combine the information obtained through the certification with my passion to help others to further improve the excellent care we provide to our residents,” said Fye.

McKinley Health Center is the skilled nursing community of WRC Senior Services, located on the Laurelbrooke Landing campus in Brookville.

The community offers short-stay rehab for patients recovering from surgery or illness who plan to return home, comprehensive care for residents with long-term needs and memory support care.

WRC is a not-for-profit organization that has been providing care for seniors in the area for over 125 years.
